Why 10 Station's?
A common question we're asked here at Mark 7® is “Why do our presses have 10 stations?” While a simple question for the seasoned reloader already familar with 7 station presses, it's not as obvious to those new to reloading or even progressive reloading. The core strength of a 10-Station toolhead is how it allows you to seperate certain die operations, letting them perform a single, dedicated job. Some of these operations include:
- Sizing and Decapping are Separated
By utilizing a universal decapping die, you can remove the decapping pin that comes inside of the sizing die and install it over the priming station. This allows the sizing die to have it's own station, as well as serve as a centering/hold down for more consistent priming. - Flaring and Powder Drop are Separated
By seperating these two stations, you're given both better quality and control over the flare of the case mouth. This also allows the powder measure to only drop powder. Historically, systems that combined these two functions could have brass stick to the flare plug and can “pop off” when the Toolhead is lifted. This would jar the powder measure and could cause inconsistent charges. Our powder measures are also not capable of flaring, damage can occur to the powder measure if flaring is attempted. - Bullet Feeder, Powder Check, Seating AND Crimp Die are all Separated
A press with less toolhead stations means having to sacrifice at least one of these, and often times two. This not only gives you more effective rounds when reloading, but also saves large amounts of time since you don't need to constantly switch between different dies. - Separating Stations Produces Superior Results
Some die makers combine certain processes, such as seating and crimping, but this produces subpar results. The reason for this is because if you try to crimp the case mouth while you are seating the bullet, you will likely damage the jacket of the bullet. This then causes poor accuracy and inconsistent ammunition at best. Separating each station allows you to maximize each round reloaded. - Freedom of Customization
Despite the name, you don't actually need to utilize all 10-stations. If, for example, you currently only have dies for basic pistol reloading, you can still use our 10-Station toolhead the same as any other toolhead. With the extra stations at hand though, it makes expanding your reloading setup a much smoother process.

PLEASE NOTE: Hold Down Die is included for Swage operation. Additional dies and bullet feeder are not included with the APEX 10 and must be purchased separately.
- The ease and time required to change calibers depends on both your primer size and level of experience. Small calibers can take as little as 30 minutes or less with all necessary accessories. Small to large caliber or large to small caliber changes could take up to an hour depending on the number of pieces changed.
- No special tools are needed, but a good Allen wrench set is recommended. It will take about an 1 hour to 90 minutes to get the press set up* meaning the press is physically set up but not ready to load on: that will take another 1 to 2 hours. The necessary step are:
- Install the sensors
- Set up and adjust the bullet feeder and case feeder
- Set dies
- Set the sensors
- Set powder measure charge, etc...
- In all, you should expect to spend approximately 90 minutes to set up a manual press, or approximately 3 or more hours for an automated press with sensors.
- The Rev is our flagship/workhorse press that comes standard with a larger 14” case feeder, Mr. Bullet feeder pro, digital powder measure, and commercial vibratory priming system.
- This is a direct drive unit that is extremely smooth in operation and designed to surpass that coveted million round mark.
- Very easy: Simply install your Apex 10® / Evolution™ Autodrive which typically requires 30 - 45 minutes on average.
- This is a “loaded question” (pun intended). This will depend heavily on the cost of your components you purchase.
- We tend to look at this as more of an opportunity to load ammunition to your own specifications and tailor to your paricular guns.
- Your monthly ammo bill is actually likely to increase, not because you are paying more per round, but you will simply be shooting more
- Our presses are 10 station, and designed around, and for automation. Almost by default, this makes them more robust in operation and have much tighter tolerances.
- With 10 stations, we can separate all aspects of reloading to create a better finished round of ammunition, while still adding sensors and bullet drop stations. No more combining seating/crimping dies, powder drop with case flaring, or sizing with decapping.
- Absolutely. All standard 7/8"-14 thread dies will work in our presses as long as they do not need contact with the shell plate for proper operation.
- We would recommend a manual press for anyone who is newer to reloading, or unfamiliar with progressive presses. There is a lot happening all at once with automation and can be a lot for the operator to handle without the basic knowledge of press operation. Automation is a great step up for loaders down the road once they are familiar with the process.
- Automation can, and will add a level of consistency to the operators output. The motor will operate the press in the same manner and speed for every stroke. This can have a positive effect on powder drop, priming and bullet seating/crimping. This will also give a higher sustained output.
- The Apex 10 comes with both small and large priming system components. No conversion parts needed there.

10 Station Manual Loading Machine
The Apex-10 is Mark 7’s premium manually operated press. Featuring a cast iron 10 station tool head, The Apex-10 can accommodate pistol and rifle cases from 380 acp up to 308 Winchester. It includes on press swaging (a standard feature on all Mark 7 presses), an all metal 11-inch-high speed case feeder, mechanical powder measure, stacked priming, and a Lyman Pro Hold Down Die for use over the swage station. It is compatible with our Primer Xpress oscillating priming system, and our autodrive compatible with our apex/evolution automation system.
